A second man was in critical condition after the shooting at the Fox Meadow Apartment Complex off of Route 73 in Maple Shade, according to Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina and Maple Shade Police Chief Christopher J. Fletcher.
The investigation began after Maple Shade police were called to the first block of Laurel Drive at 3:30 a.m. Friday, April 15 for a shooting.
Police ound a 26-year-old man outside who had been shot in the face. He was taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where he underwent emergency surgery and is listed in critical but stable condition.
Near the entrance to one of the units, police discovered Maurice Kobassic, 27, who was dead. An autopsy will be performed by Burlington County Medical Examiner Dr. Ian Hood.
Friends on Facebook mourned Kobassic's passing, calling him a great friend and musician.
"Anyone who knows you knows you were always a GREAT man at heart and a Fantastic musician as well," one friend wrote.
The victims shared a residence in the complex. The motive for the shooting continues to be investigated. No arrests have been made at this time.
The investigation is being conducted by the Prosecutor’s Office and the Maple Shade Police Department. The lead investigators are BCPO Detective Dan Schules and MSPD Detective Diego Alvarez.
